Step back in time and fall into history!

Join the Irving Department of Arts and Culture for a relaxed, come-and-go afternoon celebrating community, storytelling, and heritage at Bear Creek. Visitors are invited to explore the historic homes with staff on hand to share insight into the area’s rich history, enjoy lawn games on the grounds, and take part in a family-friendly scavenger hunt.

Event Highlights:

  • Signed Exhibition Catalog Giveaway: The first 15 guests will receive a signed copy of Through Darkness to Light: Photographs Along the Underground Railroad by Jeanine Michna-Bales. (One gift per group)
  • Legacy Kits for National Genealogy Month: In recognition of National Genealogy Month, guests can pick up a Legacy Kit, a thoughtfully designed set of prompts, archival envelopes, and guidance to help preserve family stories and memories. Staff will be available throughout the day to offer tips on documenting your family history. (Available only while supplies last.)

Fall into History offers an accessible, family-friendly way to connect with the ongoing story of Bear Creek and the people who helped shape Irving’s cultural landscape. Bring a friend, bring your curiosity, and spend the afternoon surrounded by history, conversation, and community spirit.
